Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about our Square Foot Gardening seminars, registration, and what you can expect when you attend.
Can I really start and be successful after these seminars?
If participants follow the 12-Step Cycle they will have successful harvests. We have found that when participants alter the method, results are not as successful as they could be. This method has been used for over 40 years in over 80 countries around the world. It works!
How much will I learn in the seminars?
You will leave the seminars ready to plant and be successful in harvest with a written plan. We only host up to 15 participants per seminar in order to make your experience more interactive and personal.
Gardening is actually very simple if all of the steps of the cycle are applied. We find most people attend the half-day seminar first, begin their gardens, and then attend the whole-day seminar to refine their skills.
If you attend the half-day seminar, you receive a discount to attend the all day seminar! You can also repeat either class at 50% of the regular price.
Why are the seminars worth the time and money when I could just buy the book?
Yes, you could purchase the book and learn from it. We recommend everyone have the latest edition Melβs book βThe New Square Foot Gardeningβ as a great reference. This is why we include the book in every seminar.
However, there is a learning curve to applying the methods in your area. In the seminars, we cover issues for our geographic area, share local sources for seeds and supplies, advise how to compost while following our HOA regulations, and answer your own personal questions.
How long are the seminars?
Half-Day seminars last approximately 4 hours, while Whole-Day seminars run around 7 hours.
